Meet Our Team
Valerie Voisey F.A.B.D. BSc Hons
I am a Mum of two, Dance Teacher, Choreographer and Examiner, all of which I love! I am the Principal of Valerie's Dance Studio as well as Dance Lecturer at SGS College on the Dance and Musical Theatre Courses for College and Degree Level. It has always been a dream of mine to have my own dance school and my main aim is for everyone to get to love dancing as much as I do through high quality and positive tuition.
I started dancing at the age of 3 and trained in RAD and ABD. After attending the Phoenix Academy of Performing Arts I now have Advanced and Fellowship teaching qualifications in Modern, Tap and Ballet as well as Acrobatics with Acrotrix. I also have extensive experience in a variety of different styles including Musical Theatre, Commercial, Street, Contemporary, Jazz, Lyrical, and Irish.
I teach all ends of the spectrum, from pre-school classes in local nurseries to local schools to help choreograph musical theatre and dance productions.
I am an experienced performer; competing at National and International level and have taken part in many shows and events. I also have over 20 years of teaching experience working with Primary and Secondary schools and Dance schools over here in the UK, Cyprus and Beijing, China.
As well as my dancing I also have a First Class degree in Psychology from the University of Birmingham.
Cordelia Wickenden
With Cordelia's Mum being an ABD examiner and professional dancer and her Dad performing in the West End, Cordelia was born into dance and performance! The first time Cordelia entered a dance class was at the age of 18 months. Being a dancer has allowed her to take part in some amazing experiences, such as travelling to Disney Land Paris to dance and travelling to Germany to compete for Team Wales 2017, placing 10th in the world with her Acrobatic solo and 16th in the world for her Ballet solo. Cordelia has also performed in iconic theatres such as The Royal Albert Hall London and Sadlers Wells.
As well as this, Cordelia auditioned and successfully gained places within many Companies and Associate programmes such as, Ballet Cymru Associate for 3 years running and Checetti Ballet Associate. Cordelia also auditioned and gained places to be able to dance with the NYAW AdVance programme and NYAW step up programme company, giving her the chance to perform and rehearse on a regular basis in Cardiff’s Dance House.
Cordelia’s ABD qualifications include Modern, Tap, Ballet, Soft Musical Comedy and Acrobatics from Grades Pre-Preparatory to Elementary, and most recently to Advanced level Ballet, passing with Honours. Cordelia has gained roles in productions including The English Youth Ballet ‘Coppélia’ and ‘Giselle’ performing en pointe, pantomimes such as ‘Babes in the wood’ (with a main role as one of the babes), Aladdin, Jack and the bean stalk and Cinderella.
Rosy Pigott
Rosy is looking forward to meeting new dancers at Valerie’s Dance Studio!
After training at Bodywork Company, Cambridge, and dancing with the English Youth Ballet before that, she started performing professionally across the Canary and Balearic Islands.
Rosy moved to Bristol 2 years ago, where she works as a freelance teacher, drama facilitator, and dancer. In the same week, she recently performed a children’s theatre show about mental health, as well as a new version of Cinderella. Life is all about variety!
At present Rosy is working with New Works Ballet Theatre on a contemporary ballet version of the Little Mermaid, and has just finished performing for “House of Broadway.”
Rosy loves sharing her passion for dance with others, as she knows how much joy it can bring. Getting into the studio is the best part of any day in her book.
